RM Wood Concepts

The evolution of RMWoodconcepts has been a long natural progression.   Growing up in New England in a family antique business (Robert M. Reid & Sons), I developed an appreciation for the beauty and craftsmanship that I saw in antique furniture (although at the time I probably did more complaining than appreciating, as I seemed to always be loading or unloading these pieces (as heavy as they were valuable).

As a teenager I began working in the summers for my father’s painting company, where I quickly developed a respect for the craftsman I worked with and a strong connection with the building and renovation trades.  This trade would carry me through my college years at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, and through subsequent years as an aspiring musician.

After a move to Atlanta in 1999, I worked for a number of years for a premier custom cabinet maker on the North side and began to realize a passion for the art of bringing a unique idea to life from the stacks of beautiful and fragrant raw lumber at the local lumber mill.  Classes and experience in the art of traditional joinery have also helped me to expand the design possibilities of my craft.

My passion for woodworking is ever-growing, as it is impossible not to be constantly learning new techniques and incorporating new design ideas.  There is nothing more rewarding as a craftsman than bringing an image in one’s mind to fruition, and into the home of a satisfied client to be passed down through generations to come.
